Satechi 75W Dual USB-C PD iPhone 12 Adapter – Charging Features

Satechi 75W dual PD port adapter is a four port charger with dual USB-C PD ports (60 watt from one PD port and 18 watt from second PD port) and two USB-A ports (12 watt from both USB-A ports). This charger is capable of charging a 60-watt USB-PD device such as a MacBook Pro or a PD fast-charging phone such as iPhone 12 or iPhone 11/XR/S20/S10 etc.

The two USB-C PD ports of the adapter are capable of a maximum output of 60 watt and 18 watt respectively. However, it cannot simultaneously output 60-watt PD and 18 watt PD as the combined output of the charger is limited to 75 watts. You can, however, simultaneously fast charge a PD laptop at up to 60-watt speed from the 60-watt PD port and a smartphone at up to 12-watt speed from one of the regular USB ports. For example, you can simultaneously fast charge a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 7.

This feature is beneficial if you want to charge a MacBook Pro or Dell XPS at fast 60-watt speed and an iPhone or any Android smartphone at 12 watt (2.4 amp) speed – about zero to 50% in 40-60 minutes .

Both USB-A ports in the Satechi 75W charger are capable of providing a maximum output of 12-watt from each port. These ports can charge all the iPhones including iPhone 12 & 11/XR, and Samsung smartphones such as S10 plus, S10, S9, S8 etc. at 2.4 amp charging speeds. The 2.4 amp regular USB ports can also fast charge all the iPhones at twice the speed of the 1 amp standard Apple iPhone charger.

You can even use all the four ports simultaneously with a maximum combined output of 75 watts. This can be a boon if only one charger is available and there are multiple devices to be charged simultaneously.

The 18-watt PD port of the Satechi 75W dual PD charger will fast charge all the latest iPhones (12, 11, XS, XR, 8, etc.) at a charging speed of zero to 50% in 30 minutes. It will also fast-charge all PD enabled Android smartphones including Samsung S10, S10 plus, S9, S9 plus, S8, Note 9/8, LG V50, V40, G7, G8, etc. at a charging speed of zero to 50% in 30 minutes.

Satechi 75W Dual USB-C PD Charger – Design

The dimensions of Satechi 75W are 4.06 x 2.84 x 0.91 inches (10.3 x 7.2 x 2.3 cm) and it weighs 7.55 oz (214 gm). This charger is a stand alone device which is connected to the AC power via a removable AC plug.

This adapter is approximately twice as large as most dual PD port comparable chargers and about 2-3 oz (40-50 gm) heavier. This makes it inconvenient to be carried while travelling.

Satechi 75W Dual PD Port vs Anker PowerPort Atom PD 2 60W Dual PD Adapter

Anker PowerPort Atom PD 2 is the closest competitor to Satechi 75-watt charger in terms of charging features as both of them have dual PD ports and can output maximum 60 watt from one PD port.

PowerPort Atom PD 2 is capable of giving a maximum output of 60 watts from one PD port and a combined output of 30w + 30w when both the PD ports are in use. Whereas, Satechi 75W can output 60 watt from one port and 18 watt from other port but when both the ports are used simultaneously, the combined output is NOT 60w + 18w. The USB-A ports of the Satechi 75W can output a maximum of 12 watts from each port.

This means that only the PowerPort Atom PD 2 is capable of fast charging a laptop and fast-charge iPhone 12 or iPhone 11 etc. simultaneously.

Dual Port PD Charger
Anker’s PowerPort Atom PD 2 Charger can fast-charge iPhone 12 from USB-C port

PowerPort Atom PD 2 is more reasonably priced, half the size of Satechi 75W and is 2-3 oz lighter than it. Unlike the Satechi charger, the Anker charger can be directly plugged into the AC mains while the Satechi charger requires a separate AC plug with cable.

Considering all the criteria, PowerPort Atom PD 2 is a better choice as it is a much more portable dual PD charger than Satechi 75W charger. The 15 watt extra power output of the Satechi charger is not justified by its significantly more weight, size and price.

Satechi 75W Dual PD Port vs RAVPower 61W USB-C PD

RAVPower 61W gives a tough competition to Satechi 75W in terms of charging heavy power drawing devices. Satechi 75W features four ports (two USB-C PD ports and two USB-A ports), whereas, RAVPower 61W features two ports (one USB-C PD port and one USB-A port).

When both ports are used in the RAVPower 61W charger then its maximum combined output is 57 watts (45 watt from PD port and 12 watt from regular USB port), whereas, in the Satechi 75W charger when all the four ports are used then the maximum combined output comes out to be 75 watts.

If we use both the PD ports in Satechi 75W charger then we can simultaneously fast charge a USB-C PD laptop (MacBook Pro, Air, etc.) at 60 watt and a smartphone (iPhones, Samsung phones, etc.) at 12 watt speed. When we use both ports of the RAVPower 61W then we can simultaneously fast charge a laptop at 45 watt and a smartphone at 12 watt.

61W PD adapter
RAVPower 61W dual port PD is a great iPhone 12 USB-C fast-charging adapter

As the difference in outputs of the two chargers is not large, RAVPower 61W is a better choice overall.

Given its much higher weight, size, and price, Satechi 75W dual PD charger is a better option only if you frequently require simultaneous charging of multiple devices to make use of its four output ports.
